Sketchbook

This week I’ve been using a nib pen and fluid ink almost exclusively in my #inktober 2017 drawings. The nib pen allows me to make much more expressive line than an ink marker does, and it’s an excellent tool for shading and creating texture:

For some time I’ve been itching to do a painting from photos we took at a nearby bird sanctuary. The shots we took were on a clear, sunny day, so I had lots of strong light, deep shadow and saturated colour to work with in my subject matter:
