I'm all set for Inktober 2015 with lots of different liquid inks, pens and brushes!

I'm wrapping up my September posts with this work-in-progress for our fantasy game:

A bit more nose practice:

The other day I practiced sketching eyes. I tried to study the subject matter closely for only a few seconds, then drew what gave the eye its unique characteristics. Here are a few examples:

More luck with today's sketching than last time! I'm focussing mainly on the shape of the face and key features and shadows that help describe the subject. As long as I don't get bogged down by details, I find I have more success.

I've been doing more practicing, sketching faces as quickly as possible. This was the only success out of a bunch of sketches. Some days, things just don't gel!

I've been sketching faces in the negative – much harder than I anticipated, but excellent practice!

I'm trying a style of sketching that's a bit less formal in order to capture general facial charcteristics:

It's been one of those weeks... and then some. The tricky job of sketching noses is just the right amount of brain power I require for distraction!
