I've almost got the first panel finished in this duo. I've been painting with a palette knife in order to keep the energy of the blustery wind in the piece. There are still a few final touches to add in places where the paint was applied a little too precisely, but it's close.
This section of the flag line reads WELCOME:

I've been painting the flags in this piece by mixing the paint with heavy modelling paste and applying it impasto with a palette knife. I like using the knife because it creates some great textures in the paint, and also prevents me from getting too fussy with the shapes!

Today I finished the underpainting for my flag line painting duo. The underpainting was brushed on flat, and will be used both as a guide and to add some extra energy to the piece. My intention is to work impasto and use large patches of colour from here on out.

I was itching to do another drawing based on the patterns and shapes from the one I posted on February 12. This one uses some of the same shape arrangements, with lines and patterns taken mostly from my surroundings. I also used my Speedball nib pen this time, which was fun!

A detail from a drawing I'm working on... This was a little test to try out my new Speedball ink pen nibs which I have never used before, but am enjoying tremendously!

Here is the painting with some final details put in. I tried not to get too caught up in minute details, because I wanted to maintain the loose style that I started with the pouring of watercolour.

I'm experimenting with watercolour on Strathmore 500 board. I've masked areas of white and very light colour, then worked in the majority of the colour by pouring pigment mixed with water directly on the surface. I'll let this dry thoroughly, then paint in fine details at the end.

This painting was inspired by a dream I had a couple of nights ago. In the dream, I was admiring a painting that a friend had just finished (no clue who the person was in the dream). This was close to what I saw. It feels slightly like I've stolen this from someone, but perhaps my dream friend wouldn't mind?

A little something for Valentine's Day. I made this with wool roving that I needle felted into heart shapes. I then twisted silver wire around the hearts so that I could make them into earrings.
