I think I've hit upon just the right palette for this part of the game. I'm happy with the red and green complimentary pair:

Another landscape in the same series... I made some adjustments to the digital oils I was using, and I like the mixability a bit more:

Over the past few days I've been playing with colour palettes and complimentary colour pairings in the landscape work I've been doing. These painted pieces are tryouts for environments I'll be creating for a PC game I'm making with my husband. Right now I'm trying out painting styles and figuring out what will work best for this large-scale project.

My love-affair with geometric shapes has a long history. This is a piece from last year:

Playing jewel-like colour and shape against each other:

The last of this series of orbit drawings:

This one started out as an orbit drawing, but on reflection, it looks to me like cheeky little birds everywhere I look:

I've been working on various incarnations of my previous geometric drawings, working abstractly and without any pre-planning. Often when I am applying colour, texture or tone I need to problem-solve as I go, which is something I enjoy. I've started referring to these sketches as the “orbit drawings”, for obvious reasons:

Here is the flag line painting duo, finally finished!
This one reads WELCOME:

I took a break from the gloopy paint and indulged my love of geometric shapes with this sketch:
