Busy day today, but I had a chance to sketch while waiting for my sister at her office. Here she is answering a million emails before she can go home!
Today's art journal - therapeutic, as always. I've been having fun using layers of watercolour washes sprayed with isopropyl alcohol... Great effect!
My art journal collage of the day, with a little rant hidden amongst the imagery...
Another art journal entry. I'm very much enjoying working in my newly organized studio!
One of the things I'm constantly battling with is how to organize my tools and supplies so that everything I need is close at hand and easy to clean up after I use it. I've reorganized my studio so many times, each time clearing out heaps of things that I've been keeping for unknown reasons. I'm one of those people who finds it infinitely easier to work when the space around me is clutter-free, so every time I reorganize I find it helps the flow of my creative thoughts. I found an excellent storage unit (at IKEA if anyone's interested) that helps me stow away a lot of my supplies neatly, keeping everything at hand and allowing me to retire my old pre-fab, rickety storage shelf. Here is a glimpse of the neatness!
This weekend we went for our first (much-needed) excursion out of the city since last fall. This time, we went hiking in Bragg Creek. The air smelled so fresh, and there was water running everywhere!
I put some details into my latest watercolour pour painting in an attempt to recover some areas that were lost in the foliage of the tree. I'm pretty happy with the result, but this particular piece has taught me that if I do another pour painting with subject matter as intricate as foliage, I'll start with a much more detailed sketch!
This art journaling is pretty fun, and less intimidating now...
Yet another art journal collage on this gloomy, rainy first day of May...
I'm still working on the details in my latest watercolour painting, but it's not quite finished yet. I'll post a photo of the painting when it's done, but until then, here is a quick art journal collage that I did today:
