I thought that since I so enjoyed Jake Parker’s 8-minute sketch challenge,
I might be able to apply the same idea to my recent portrait practice. As
with the last sketch challenge, the idea is to draw the same subject in
shorter and shorter periods of time - spend 4 minutes on the first sketch (#1),
2 minutes on the next, then 1 minute, 30 seconds, 15 seconds and 5 seconds
on the next 4 sketches. The first sketch was okay, but as you can see, by
the last sketch you can barely tell the subject is meant to be human!
This was good practice (and a bit of a laugh), and I intend to keep at
it and see how much I can improve my speed.
