I’ve completed all the outlining, as well as the tiny foliage within the ring. I’m going to give my eyes and hand a rest, then move on to the dramatic part - filling in the dark areas:

I managed to get a good deal of outlining of the tray done last night:

I’m planning another woodburning project. This time, it’s a serving tray with a design that reflects my family’s Greek and Celtic background:

I’m pondering ways to incorporate mech with the body and other organic objects. My head hurts just looking at this sketch:

More practice drawing noses (and an eye) as quickly as I can:

Recently I stumbled upon a photo of Steve Wozniak that I thought would be perfect for portrait practice. To get started, I did a study using simple shapes:

The shape study made it easier to tackle a more detailed charcoal painting of Steve. I enjoyed the challenge of this painting, so I’m going to try at least one other version using different media.

Today I’m turning from project work to personal work, and practising portrait sketching. My recent gesture work has been really helpful in loosening up my sketching and helping me accurately capture the subject. This sketch is the second of two, with the first sketch acting as a sort of very loose warm-up to this one. I won’t post the first, because it’s dreadful! :D
