So many of the brightly coloured buildings in Heritage Park beg to be painted. This one is a small piece to lay out colour and shape. Might make this one into a pastel later:

Ugh. This pastel started off well, but quickly became some sort of torture. I admit it, I overworked this piece, almost to death. I managed to resuscitate it in the end, sprayed fixative like crazy, and got back in with pastel to recover some decent elements.
I'm not entirely sure where this one went wrong. Was it using Bristol instead of a toothier surface? Was the piece too small for the amount of detail I intended to show? Was my reference photo too dark and lacking in a sufficient range of tone? Probably all of the above.
Oh well. I'll chalk this one up to experience and in future, remember that less is more!
