Another pastel, just for the heck of it. The inspiration for this kelpie was from a young adult book I had when I was a kid. In the story, the kelpie disguised himself as a handsome fisherman to lure young women into the sea:

Paper bag portrait #2. I like paper bags for painting faces, as they provide a great base colour for any complexion, and allow the pastel to move easily over the surface.

Today I painted a view I look at every day, but have never sketched before. I like the slanting steps and the mix of natural and architectural elements in this view, and how different it looks depending on the weather and time of day. Perhaps a series of sketches in the future?
